The thinking behind GreenPlan's reforestation initiative is simple. The programme encourages companies to run 'carbon neutral' fleets by planting the required number of trees to offset their CO2 vehicle emissions. LeasePlan works in partnership with two specialist companies - CO2OL and Futuro Forestal - to implement the programme.
Based on the individual fleet profile, LeasePlan and CO2OL calculate the forest cover necessary to absorb the CO2 produced by its vehicles; Futuro Forestal then take this information and plant the required number of trees in the Panamanian rainforests.
